Copa Room, an “all-inclusive entertainment complex,” from the creators of Wynwood’s Prohibition Restaurant & Speakeasy, owner Shawn Shahnaz, has opened its doors and its arms on storied Washington Ave., in South Beach.
Offering a traditional South Beach dance floor and nightclub experience, unique to South Beach, the venue also features a premium open bar, and “Las Vegas style shows,” including entertainers, acrobats, and cabaret dancers. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m, admission, including premium open bar, starts at $80.
If you’re looking to party in the magic city or in town for a special occasion, especially bachelor and bachelorette parties, and want maximum excitement, minimum hassle, and don’t want to break the bank or bar-hop, Copa Room is just the ticket. Not only is the cost super reasonable and known, an anomaly for the area, stuffy, exclusionary doormen also need not apply. At Copa Room, the dress code is nonrestrictive with “shorts and tuxedo’s welcomed.” My guess, the bikinis will outnumber the tuxedos by a mile!
Unfortunately for Copa Room, as Wynwood, downtown, and the beaches have developed, much of Washington Ave. has died off. In fact, Copa Room occupies the corpse of longtime stalwart Mansion. As such, South Beach veterans will not be surprised by the inside of Copa Room – much remains the same. Of course, a new twist on something that worked for years may be just what the area needs. Hopefully Copa Room can keep the party going and reignite Washington Ave.
