Delray Beach Open

RAONIC FACES SOCK FOR THE TITLE
– recap of Raonic’s win over del Potro.

No. 1 seed Milos Raonic in his Delray Beach debut defeated the 2011 Delray Beach champion Juan Martin del Potro Saturday night to secure a spot in this Sunday’s singles final. He now is 2-1 in head-to-head matchups with del Potro. Earlier in the day, American Jack Sock took down fellow countryman Donald Young in straight sets to book his spot in the final match. The Canadian Raonic has beaten Sock eight times in their 10 meetings, but Sock’s 11-1 record to start 2017 is the second best in the ATP behind Roger Federer.

In Doubles action, Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi downed Leander Paes and Yen-Hsen Lu to move on to the doubles finals. On the other side of the bracket, Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram defeated Jonathan Erlich and Scott Lipsky to claim a shot at the title. Both Miryni and Ram are familiar with the Delray Beach Open finals—Miryni is a two time DBO doubles champion, while Ram claimed the title  in 2011. Both doubles teams played in the 2016 ATP World Tour Finals in London.
