– review of the show at the BB&T Center (Sunrise).
While Westeros and the many territories showcased on the ever-popular show Game of Thrones will likely never see the light of day in my eyes, it’s good to know that productions like this make me feel like I’m already there. Really there aren’t words that explain the magic that the show’s composer Ramin Djawadi ultimately created for the BB&T Center crowd. Sure, the show wasn’t going to have the same effect for those that have never watched the show, but those that had seen it got to wet their appetite a bit until the show returns July 17th.
The show itself was kind of a trip down memory lane, afterall each time a popular character (which really was everybody) donned the large screens above the orchestra and individual musicians, the crowd oohed and awed. But, it wasn’t just Tyrion and all the characters, it was the given moments all the way from season 1 with Ned’s untimely death to the Red Wedding and closing to Arya’s vow to return home in season 6 where her name truly means something. The rollercoaster ride of emotions is seamlessly heightened with one thunderous transition to the next. It’s amazing even while myself and the legions of fans knew how each scene would play out, the instrumentals kept our heart-pounding as if everything was anew. We were truly on the edge of our seats.
The massive stage show features 807 linear feet of video walls, transported by 15 semi-trucks, traveling 11,588 miles to bring the show to audiences across North America. The show includes amazing visual elements that will totally immerse fans into the Seven Kingdoms via state of the art technology and featuring an orchestra, choirs and effects like falling rose petals and blazing fire.
Ramin Djawadi’s previous credits include the Grammy® nominated score for Marvel’s 2008 blockbuster, Iron Man. Other film credits include Pacific Rim, Clash Of The Titans and Warcraft.
