New venue, same killer vibe.
– review of the pool party at the National Hotel (Miami Beach).
Pete Tong’s annual pool party for Miami Music Week moved to the National Hotel this year from its usual spot at the Surfcomber. Although the venue changed the party was still just as rocking with some of the best house and tech house to be heard all week. This was the 10th edition of the party going back to 2007. The venue was also right on the beach with a pool and sandy dance floor area. Beach balls were flying the entire day and night to and from the DJ booth and crowd.
Bedouin started the day off with their deep brand of grooves and melodies followed by Skream and Pan Pot doing a surprise b2b set. The crowd was gearing up and the sand filled dance floor was just about filled up by the time Pete Tong and Nic Fanciulli took the stage for another b2b set, which set the crowd off even more. Pete Tong engaged the crowd on the mic throughout his set as he usually does and really set the tone for the rest of the party. Joris Voorn and Lee Foss closed out the night with some deep tech and fiery melodies.
It is unclear whether Pete will take his party back to the Surfcomber for next year’s MMW events, but the atmosphere around the pool and the dance floor at this year’s venue definitely did not miss a beat.
