Girls Rock Camp Ambassador Shirley Manson of Garbage to Meet Volunteers of Miami Girls Rock Camp During Hard Rock Live, Hollywood Stop
Blondie and Garbage Brings “The Rage and Rapture Tour” with special guest Deap Vally to Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Tuesday, Aug. 8
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, approximately 30 full-time Miami Girls Rock Camp volunteers will attend Blondie and Garbage’s “The Rage and Rapture Tour” with special guest Deap Vally at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and have an opportunity to meet Garbage’s singer Shirley Manson, a supporter of the movement and ambassador of the London Girls Rock Camp.
Established in 2014 and co-founded and directed by Steph Taylor, Emile Milgram and Heather Burdick, Miami Girls Rock Camp inspires young women and girls in Miami to use music and performance as a platform to promote self-esteem, community, and creative expression.
Miami Girls Rock Camp is part of a larger movement of Girls Rock Camps that exist all over the world, with camps in 17 countries. Most camps stay connected via the Girls Rock Camp Alliance (GRCA). The program offers instrument instruction, songwriting/band practice, live performances by visiting artists/DJs, workshops, and culminates in a showcase concert. Campers receive two hours of instruction each day on selected instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals), in semi-private groups organized by skill level and age. All classes are taught by volunteer women musicians. For more information visit: http://miamigirlsrockcamp.org/.
