Renaissance Festival

Written by Shaps
With live music, a hilarious escape artist, an insultor for hire and a show full of mud, the Renaissance Festival continued another bedlam of fun for their thousands of visitors.
-review of the festival at Quiet Waters Park (Deerfield Beach).
Families packed in yet again for an exciting day of festivities; however those who were unable to secure the season pass were still in for a treat with The Great Rodini, who was only performing on the given weekend. With a flair uniquely his own, the extremely engaging escape artist not only mystified the crowd with an unforgettable feat, but he also littered the crowd with a parade of jokes. You really couldn’t take your eyes off of him even for a mere second. Those few lucky enough to be handpicked from the crowd were able to put him in a straight jacket, then place chains over him. My friend who happened to be picked was even in more as he came back into the crowd. He explained how even as tight as he made the chain, the performer kept asking it to be even tighter. This guy was no fluke; there wasn’t any trickery noticed.

Christophe the Insultor has been a staple of the Renaissance Festival for a number of years and this year was no different. Afterall where else could you have your friend or family member professionally ripped to shreds by an insultor? Guests by the dozens dipped into their pockets to garner the worst of insults from this famed cast member. While many acts ask for a tip following their performance, Christophe doesn’t do the like, but guarantees heightened insults for the more money risen against the insultee. The insults really do get heightened for every dollar spent. During my visit, the amount towered over $150. Just keep in mind this is not a show meant for a younger crowd.

However, the men behind the mud show are definitely a family gathering. Packing in enough jokes and filthy (yet clean) fun, the acts are even more memorable for those eager enough to be in the splash zone. Yeah that’s about the first 6-7 rows…parents be warned. That said, the men are working without a microphone so you might want to be somewhat up-close for those hard of hearing. Hearing aside there’s not a bad seat.

Really everywhere you go you’re sure to find new entertainment even if coming for multiple days. I can’t wait to see what the day brings.
