Well first off, what are you guys doing with yourselves as you prepare for the upcoming west coast tour with The Expendables?
Currently we are rehearsing some new jams that are planned for our upcoming EP. Looking forward to giving our friends at the shows a preview of the material as well as get a feel of the songs on the road.
When could we expect you to make your way to South Florida?
As of right now, we do not have any set dates in South Florida...but we expect that to change in the Summer.
Through the craziness of traveling and really getting your music out there, have you been able to start writing new material?
Yes. We are constantly writing new material. Now that we have had some down time at home between tours...we're finally sitting down and developing them.
How hard is it hearing some of the shit on the radio when you've already got a great sound, yet their pulling in all the green? Is it just one of those where you're playing your cards and believing things will soon turn in your favor?
Well, we feel things are already in our favor. We may not be rolling around in green but what's more important is that the five of us are still in this together. We're traveling around the nation playing music on our own so we never take the experience for granted.
Already you've found success through iTunes and without any backing of a label, how humbling is it to achieve so much on your own?
It is very humbling. The times they are a changin'. If you've got the drive, you'll find a way to make things happen.
Are you currently in talks with any labels?
No, not at the moment.
The music and the message is such a good vibe so is that how you look to write or ideas just kind of fall in place?
I guess you would say we look to write so that ideas just fall into place. We love playing music so we hope our audience can hear the passion in it.
If you're music was the background of any movie, what would be the perfect fit and why?
Wayne's World Wayne's World party time excellent
Having played with a number of high profile rock-reggae bands, could we expect to see more of the same down the road, maybe a set on 311's Pow Wow Festival?
Haha we can only hope. We've had great experiences traveling with some of these bands so we always look forward to more stuff in the future.
What's in the works for you guys? (Albums, singles, compilations, tour plans, podcasts)
Right now, we are working on new material for an EP we want to release this year. But, before we get in the studio, we are hitting the road for the 2012 Winter Blackout tour with the Expendables, MTHD'S, and Fortunate Youth. Should be a fun couple of months coming up.
When could fans expect to see your website completed?
A work in progress version of the site is up now. We expect to launch a new site with the album.
Anything else you like to add for future fans out there?
We are going hard in 2012 so check our website www.throughtheroots.com and keep up with us on Twitter and Facebook for shows in your area as well as new music!
