Fall From Grace

Written by Shaps
After a battle royale with thousands of other bands, Fall From Grace rises as the victor of Fuse TV's competition.
-interview with the band.
Well first off congratulations on the release of your third full length album The Romance Years, how does it feel to finally see that come together?
Fall From Grace-
Well it's been a long haul (we sat on this record for over a year and a half while we were being "released" from our previous label. In that time, I opened our new label, Road 2 Hell Rekkids, and am watching all the funding for the new album The Romance Years. It's a lot more work, but 200% more rewarding that not seeing everything from the front lines!

Considering your music spreads worldwide through sites like iTunes, have you got fan emails from places you never could have imagined?
Fall From Grace-
No, generally we get emails from our fans from where we've toured (UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, USA). Our fanbase has remained so loyal that it's been since November of 2008 since our last release, and in that time, our hardcore fanbase has stood beside us and remained. That's HUGE for a band, especially in today's standards!!

Are you guys already piecing together new material and does it follow the theme of your recent album or is just the full focus on the current work?
Fall From Grace-
Well, since this record was written and recorded by just a few people, and then we had a lineup change, the new lineup hasn't been doing much writing. We've been so buried with all the press this record's been getting. What I can say is that Fall From Grace is always evolving. The next record will be the next step musically that this record was from the last. Only difference is that now with new members, the sound will evolve even more. More influence = more tools in the toolbox. The next record will represent that. However this record, The Romance Years, is what I like to call "My Pinnacle Achievement" in music writing. So...that may be difficult to top! :)

I heard you were the first local band to have a show in 15 years at the historic Neptune Theater in Seattle, was that a matter of the success you found by winning among 7,000 bands for Fuse TV’s Bodog Music Battle of the Bands?
Fall From Grace-
Yes and no. Winning that television show was a huge breakthough nationwide (and it aired in Europe and Australia), but our fanbase here at home has always been this size. As a matter of fact, it was because of our fanbase alone that we even had a fighting chance in that television show. Our success back home has been from our constant dedication to our fans and the craft of making good music. Those who follow Fall From Grace understand to which I refer.

Did you shoot video of the show?
Fall From Grace-
Yes we did, with a very good friend Ryan Short with King of Hearts Productions. Ryan's done movies, music videos, and documentaries portraying Seattle icons such as Duff McKegan, TAD, and Mudhoney. It's always a pleasure working with an A list guy as Ryan and having his friendship and talent behind the camera. The video is for 18 & Out, Fall From Grace's first single, which will be getting serviced to video mid March, 2012, and such networks like MTV, VH1, Fuse, and MTV2.

While your music is obviously derived from your own feelings and life stories, knowing how much of an impact those lyrics translate to your fans, do you ever find yourself broaching topics specifically for them?
Fall From Grace-
I'm glad you asked this. Yes, when I was on myspace I was posting blogs (http://myspace.com/mysickness) reaching out and helping kids through sexual and verbal abuse, and not mention helping them through other situations using tough love. I had to give it up due to my inability to keep up with the massive emails that were pouring in but I learned quite a bit about personalities and how to help.

You’ve shared the stage with a number of big name artists like Katy Perry, Faith No More, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, ZZ Top, Marilyn Manson and Motley Crue, but have those feats really been the most rewarding? If not, what has?
Fall From Grace-
Those feats were amazing! You definitely hit the nail on the head there...nothing has topped that! To meet and share the stage with Mike Patton and Vince Neil and Marilyn Manson...it was completely humbling!

If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be?
Fall From Grace-
John Lennon and Paul McCartney

What about a Seattle-based artist?
Fall From Grace-
Ben Gibbard (singer of Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service)

Future projects (tours, albums, EPs, podcasts, stuff via your websites)?

Fall From Grace-
