After raising $75,000 in 2016 directly benefiting Miami-Dade County education, Loews Miami Beach Hotel is proud to once again partner with NBA Champion, All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Ray Allen for the Ray Allen Loews Miami Beach Hotel Celebrity Golf Tournament.
Now in its 7th year, the tournament will take place Friday, October 20th, bringing together sports and entertainment greats to raise money for education.
The exclusive charity event benefits DonorsChoose.org, an online charity connecting donors to Miami-Dade County classrooms in need, as well as The Foundation for New Education Initiatives, a Miami-Dade County School Board program created to enhance student achievement and community engagement. Additionally, Allen’s own Ray of Hope Foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds. Using funds from last year’s tournament, Ray of Hope was able to create a state-of-the-art computer lab for Horace Mann Middle School.
“The success of last year’s event allowed us to provide essential technology for students in Miami-Dade, proving that coming together to generate awareness for our teachers and school programming really does make an impact,” said Ray Allen. “I’m excited to partner with Loews Miami Beach Hotel once again and look forward to continuing to raise funds for the Ray of Hope Foundation, DonorsChoose and The Foundation for New Education Initiatives.”
This year’s celebrity participants include Ray Allen, Alonzo Mourning, Eddie Jones, Luis Fonsi, Shane Battier, DJ Irie, Jim Jackson and Placido Polanco, among others. Each foursome will feature a celeb player, and participants will enjoy giveaways, activations and surprises at every hole. Loews Miami Beach Hotel Executive Chef Frederic Delaire will prepare the day’s cuisine, featuring selections from the hotel’s award-winning Lure Fishbar. A pop-up of Ray and Shannon Allen’s restaurant Grown will offer healthy bites of organic cuisine. A silent auction, raffle and online auction featuring luxe goods and experiences will also take place, with proceeds benefiting the three not-for-profit organizations.
“We’re proud to partner with Ray Allen again for our celebrity golf tournament,” said Alex Tonarelli, Managing Director, Loews Miami Beach Hotel. “With Ray’s support we were able to see the money raised last year directly benefit our community, and we look forward to continuing to grow this event and provide critical funds for our teachers.”
Since 2011, Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s Celebrity Golf Tournament has raised more than $350,000 in resources for classrooms and students across Miami-Dade. This year’s sponsors include PSAV, Boucher Brothers, Towne Park, slingshot, Cigna, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and Hublot. Entry into the 18-hole, One Best Ball format tournament, held at Miami Beach Golf Club, is $4,000 per foursome, which covers green fees for three players and one celebrity, premium gift bags, commemorative photo, breakfast and lunch.
