The 2018 CrawDebauchery Food & Music Festival has added brass/funk/rock band Bonerama to its stellar performer lineup.
The fifth annual event is scheduled for Saturday, March 24, at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater Field and will feature The Struts.
Other acts already announced include Anders Osborne, Maggie Koerner, The Trongone Band, Southern Avenue and Dash Rip Rock. American rapper, record producer and DJ Mannie Fresh will be one of the featured celebrity hosts.
Bonerama has been hailed as “unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.” The 20-year-old powerhouse touring band has changed the way people think about the trombone, while contributing to the sound of New Orleans music today.
Formed by trombone players Mark Mullins and Craig Klein (who were once members of Harry Connick Jr.’s big band) Bonerama incorporates jazz, brass, funk fusion, soul, pop, rock blues, a touch of alternative and even a bit of reggae into its one-of-a-kind sound. Three trombones front the band, which also includes a sousaphone, guitar and drums.
Bonerama has performed and recorded with countless national artists such as R.E.M., OK Go, Tom Morello and Jill Sobule. The group has also performed at numerous festivals and events such as the Monterey Jazz Fest, High Sierra Music Festival, Jam Cruise, Bear Creek Festival and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Additionally, Bonerama has made national television appearances over the years including the Late Show with David Letterman, HBO (Comic Relief, Treme) and CNN.
Bonerama’s new studio album – “Hot Like Fire” – was released last October on Basin Street Records. It’s the seventh major release for the band since 2001.
“There’s no question that Bonerama has influenced the New Orleans music scene,” said event founder/organizer Don Matthews. “We can’t wait to bring that unique sound to South Florida in March.”
The CrawDebauchery Food & Music Festival will be a celebration of everything New Orleans complete with great food and great music.
Like previous years, the event will feature a Gumbo Rumble, Krewe Competition and a massive crawfish boil. There will also be an area for kids complete with crawfish races, face painting and jugglers.
